Gas Strategies was formed in 1989 as an unincorporated joint venture between its parent, Gas Strategies Group Limited (earlier known as EconoMatters Limited) and Trichem Consultants. In 2001, Gas Strategies Group Limited (earlier known as EconoMatters Limited) acquired the Trichem share of Gas Strategies including all the databases and models on gas pricing and oil. In April 2003, Gas Strategies began trading as Gas Strategies Consulting Ltd, a 100% subsidiary of Gas Strategies Group Limited (earlier known as EconoMatters Limited).

In December 2003, Gas Strategies Group Limited (earlier known as EconoMatters Limited) was acquired by CRISIL, India's leading Ratings, Research, Risk and Policy Advisory company.

Gas Strategies provides services over the whole range of commercial, strategic and financing issues of the international gas and LNG business. We have worked on the restructuring and liberalising of many markets. We also carry out project finance due diligence for banks, lenders and sponsors, analyse markets for exporters, advise on supply, demand and security of supply issues, and also advise on specific projects, such as gas fired generation and the entry of new marketers.
