» Limitations of CRISIL's Credit Ratings

After the rating has been assigned, CRISIL continues to monitor the performance of the issuer, and the economic environment in which the issuer operates. This surveillance ensures that the analysts are aware of current developments, so that they can review sensitive areas and learn about changes in an issuer's plans.

The primary analyst maintains periodic contact with the issuer and ensures that financial and other information is shared with CRISIL regularly. All ratings are under continuous surveillance. Moreover, CRISIL has a policy of conducting detailed management interactions with each issuer at least once a year. These interactions essentially focus on developments over the period since the last interaction, and the outlook for the coming year.
